Scotland
I have just returned from Scotland. What a great trip and even better with Cameron Smith winning the British Open. We had a good contingent of members from Gosford Golf Club flying the Australian flag and there was some good competition for the Tour Jug. Well done to Eddie Rogers who won the jug and to Bevan Lydement a very close second. Thanks again to Graham Chee who took on the captain’s role while I was overseas.
Matchplay Championship
On the home front good wins to Duncan Brown over Dan Bosley in the open matchplay and Mick Cheetham over Bill Ballard in the B grade finals. Both matches were very close and could have gone either way. Well done to all that competed.
Pennants
Our senior pennant team have completed their matches and with only a few clubs to complete their matches we have secured the B Grade pennant for the second year in a row. We will run in the top three places in A and C grade, and this has placed us twelve points in the lead in the Sterland Shield. Everglades can tie us if they win all their remaining matches.
The Super Seniors Pennant has commenced, and our boys are undefeated in their first four matches. The boys are really enjoying their matches and I am confident they can give the competition a shake.
Our Masters Pennant commitments have been completed and we finished second in our division to a very hot Newcastle team.
Upcoming District Golf Events
2022 Men’s NSW Country Championships will be played at Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club on 12th-13thNovember.
2022 NSW senior Amateur Championship will be played at Forster Tuncurry Golf club from 8th-10thNovember.

Pace of Play
The course is still wet and at times carts must on the blue lines and this continues to affect the pace of play. Please do your best though to keep up with the group in front of you as your place in the field is behind the group in front of you not in front of the group behind you.
Mi Club provides a report that allows me to monitor the time individual groups complete their game and how far they finish behind the group in front of them. I will continue to monitor this report and look for opportunities to speed up play.
Course
The green staff are doing a great job getting the course back into shape after the big wet. The greens are very good. Please assist them by filling divots, repairing pitch marks and keep those carts away from the wet areas.
And finally, just a reminder that if you see a ball on the course and it does not belong to you its best that you leave it there. Some of our young members can hit the ball a mile and may take some time to get to the ball. There is nothing worse when you are having a good game to have someone pick up your ball and you then have to record a wipe on your card.
