Course Redesign
The draft course redesign was presented at the Annual General Meeting and remains on display in the clubhouse. Please take some time to have a look at the design and if you have comments or questions you can provide these at [email protected]. The feedback I have received to date has been very positive.
Foursomes Championship
The Foursomes championship was played in September and an afternoon storm stopped play for the afternoon golfers and most elected not to return to play once the storm passed. Dan Bosley and Dan Snelson played early and submitted a score that was always going to be very hard to beat. They were the defending champions from pre-Covid in 2019 and have successfully defended in becoming the 2022 champions. Well done boys.
Pennants update
Our super seniors have had a great year and progressed to the Regional Finals where they had a good win against Muirfield before going down to Monash who are one of the favourites to win the Pennant.
Thanks to all our Pennant players this year who have done very well. Seniors Pennants start again in January and next year the format will change to six single matches in A grade and four single matches in B and C grade. Teams will be selected late December so please look out for the nomination sheet and support your club.
Local Rules
The club does its best to ensure that Local Rules and Conditions of Play are communicated to members. MiClub allows us to place information on the timesheet, but space is limited. Please ensure that you check the timesheet directly prior to your hit off and from time to time have a read of the local rules. The local rules can be found on the website, on the notice board and on the MiClub app. The onus is on the player to ensure that they are aware of the rules prior to play but if you are unsure ask one of the match committee or the boys in the Pro shop.
Carts
The course continues to be affected by the rain and this affects the availability of carts. We want to allow as many people as possible to play golf and for this reason we have introduced the blue line. When the course is wet, and carts would not normally be allowed we allow carts but only if they follow the blue line. This has been successful, but more and more players are starting to drift away from the blue line. If this trend continues, we may need to go back to only allowing carts when the course is suitable so, please consider the effect your decision may have on your fellow golfers.
Course
Finally, as always, we need to remind players to fill divots, repair pitch marks and keep those carts away from the wet areas. Ever little bit we do assists the course to recover.
