September and spring has sprung. The weather for August has been brilliant. I know we really need some rain, but personally I could take this kind of weather all year, just perfect for golf.
Veterans’ Day was an outstanding success. Our new Veterans’ delegate had very hard shoes to fill in taking over from Marianne Lanham, but Helen Potter has proved she is well up to the task and did a fantastic job. Well done, and thank you Helen.
The annual Gosford Bowl, Bronze Salver and Long Markers’ day was held in beautiful weather. The visitor turnout was a little disappointing as we only had 17 visitors from Breakers, Shelly Beach and Howlong. Even so, it was a great day. Thanks as always to the Social Committee for the fabulous decorations and flower displays on the tables. Also I would like to give a big thank you to the Ladies Committee for the wonderful morning tea provided on arrival. It really is a matter of many hands on a big day, and I am please to say that we do have our share of ladies willing to provide assistance.
Congratulations to all the trophy winners on the day but especially to the major winners; Sally Hopkins, the Gosford Bowl, Judy Verlander for the Bronze Salver and Pam Witt for the Long Markers’ Trophy.
As normal for end of August the course was due for renovation. Helen stepped up and did a great job organizing the game at Kooindah for our Lady members. I am sure that all those who went had a lovely day. For those of you that stayed behind and played the front nine twice in very sandy greens, well done also, amazing the scores that were achieved. Same can be said for the Thursday fun day of playing with just 3 clubs, very good fun and again, amazing the scores. Who needs 14 clubs!!!
Invitation day is coming up on the 19th September. It would be great if we could have a nearly full field. Please invite your friends and acquaintances from other clubs to join us in a fun teams’ event. It will be an 8.30 shotgun start and the sheet is already down in the Ladies Locker room and filling fast, so don’t delay. Take note that if you do have invitees, we will need their Golflink number in order to put them into the system and issue cards, so please remember to obtain their number and please put down on the sheet with their name.
