July, we are now closer to the next Christmas than we are from the previous Christmas. The year is speeding past. Although we are now seeing some cool weather, especially early mornings, and we have had a share of wet weather, most of the days have been beautiful.
Our major event for June was of cause our Fousomes Championship. The weather was fantastic, so by rights there should have been no excuses. I must admit though that the scores on the whole were not brilliant. Congratulations go to our now foursomes champions – Sally Hopkins and Marianne Lanham who defeated Kay Adams and Sandra Coyle in a four hole playoff. So it was very close and commiserations to Kay and Sandra. Our new Division 2 champions are Pam Witt and Helen Stuart, congratulations and well done.
We did have one washout that needs to be rescheduled. June 19th was to be the 5th CCWGA Brooch which we then rescheduled to run in conjunction with the CCWGA Charity Day Qualifying on July 3rd. The Veterans and Top Ten Shootout will now be played on August 28th, as the renovations have now been put back to October and a Single Stableford is now programmed.
Entries for the Gosford Bowl, Bronze Salver and Long Markers’ Trophy to be played on Tuesday 24th July, are now open. The sheet for names is now in the Ladies locker room. There is also a sheet for entries to our Singles Knockout to commence on Thursday 26th July. It would be great to see plenty of entries to both events.
