The VW scramble was held recently for male and female members. The ladies’ event was won by a team of visitors from Shelly beach and they qualify for the playoffs. The mens’ event which had to be rescheduled because of a washout was completed with four teams progressing to the next stage. The men’s event had a field of 252 players which made it the largest on the coast and possibly NSW.

Members are also reminded of the local rule regarding unfavourable ground conditions. This applies to the areas of the green where work has been done.

Course renovations are due to commence on Monday 29th March and be completed on 30th March. During this period major tree removal is being undertaken which will affect the area of the first and tenth tees. Temporary tees for one and ten will be in place. This could also affect the Wednesday competition. Members are advised to exercise caution basically the pathway leading from the proshop to the 1tenth tee will be out of play. Ladies Captain’s Report

Opening Day on Tuesday the 2nd of February was a success. We had a slightly reduced field of 81 players as rain was forecast & a few people cancelled. It was good to see that a number came in later for lunch. The commencement of the Continuous Competitions kicked off on Opening Day so be sure to record your birdies & gobblers & place the sheet in the appropriate box upstairs.

We are pleased to announce that Bendigo Bank & Creightons will continue to be the two major sponsors of Gosford Ladies golf. Bendigo Bank will support our Open Day in May and Creightons will split their funds between Club Championships & Invitation Day.

Both the CCWGA Opening days went well, Shelly Beach & Breakers were the host clubs & 216 players enjoyed the day. Lifeline will remain the CCWGA charity for 2021. Gosford has already donated a large sum of money raised at our Christmas Ambrose & Liz has initiated Ricochet clothing again as an easy fundraiser. We will continue to make contributions to the CCWGA throughout the year.

The VW Scramble took place on Thursday the 15th of February. There were ten team in all, seven from Gosford & three from Shelly Beach. Shelly Beach won first & third prizes & a Gosford team came in second.

The first round of the popular Top Ten Shootout is scheduled for the 2nd of March. We have a record number of participants, 59 players in all. The list is pinned to the board in the Ladies locker room & the results will be updated after every round.

St Patrick’s Dice Day replaces Joker Day and will be played on the 16th of March. The timesheet is already open and filling up fast. It will be an 8.00am shotgun start and the event is a team Stableford with 2 scores to count. The throw of the dice will add an Irish twist to the format – instructions to follow. In the spirit of the Irish, Green Ball day will be played on Thursday the 26th of March; it is a 3 person team stableford with 2 scores to count.

The Pennant season starts on the 15th of March. The first round is at Gosford and our team, which is in the Banksia pool this year, will have a bye. Kieran will run a clinic for the Pennant players on Friday the 19th of March at 9am and Sharon will recap the match play format for those who haven’t played it before. She has the new pennant shirts for 2021. These have been kindly sponsored by the club & will be distributed to the Pennant players in the next couple of weeks.

Open Day will take place on the 11th of May and Bendigo Bank will be the major sponsor of the event. Entry forms have been circulated to clubs & posted on the CCWGA Facebook Page and the response has been encouraging thus far.

Please note that Nearest the Pins are back in play and that from the 1st of March the timesheet moves to a 7.30 start.
