What a great atmosphere we have created each Friday afternoon. Smiling faces, very excited children and beautiful friendships forming. We now have over 46 cadets registered with the club with anywhere from 20 to 30 kids turning up each Friday afternoon from 4pm to 5pm to learn the game of golf. With Spring just around the corner, this is the ideal time to be investing in our youth and golfers of tomorrow.
The best thing is that most of the kids are children or grandchildren of our members with ages ranging from 6 to 14.
The Friday format for the clinic is fun, encouraging motivation, friendship and coaching in a relaxed safe environment. The 10th tee is now closed each Friday from 4pm to 5pm. Driving range mats are setup on the start of the 10th fairway with a 25-minute coaching clinic allowing the children to hit balls down the 10th fairway with instruction. From there we team up and play Ambrose golf for 3 short modified holes down the 10th, 11th and 12th.
All junior clinic bookings are welcome through the Pro-shop – $5 per child, volunteers/members are also welcomed to assist Jason, Kieran and Mitch with the safety and development of the program.
All monies raised go back into the Junior Development Program.
Potential – due to the talent and quick development, we have already promoted 4 of our cadets to sub juniors who will start playing with their grand parents in the last group each Sunday afternoon to assist further with the etiquette, sportsmanship and course management required.
Whilst – we are now calling for the donation of any old golf clubs/sets/bags you may have sitting around in the garage. With these donations, we forward the clubs onto the kids to get them started, the clubs stay in circulation at the Gosford Golf Club with the kids to swap their clubs back for another set as they grow and improve.
