Rain playing havoc with our golfing programme

August 6, 2016 | Web Master

August already, can’t believe how quickly the year is disappearing. Once again in July the rain played havoc with our golfing programme. The CCWGA Charity Day Qualifying round and Vets had to be postponed from early July through to July end when we were able to combine both events with the visit from Wyong.

We had a good contingent of ladies from Wyong to play the annual battle for the perpetual trophy. Despite the fact that our courageous Gosford players were unable to win back the trophy this year, even on home soil, a great day was had by all. Thanks go to Leanne Binns for the fantastic morning tea available for all on arrival, a nice way to start the day and very much appreciated. Next year it will be back to Wyong and hopefully a better golfing result.

One of our very important days of the year was held in July, it was Grandmas’ and Great Grandmas’ Day. With our ageing population of golfers, there are not too many of us that do not fall into at least one of these categories. Thanks again go to June Bowen for donating the special trophies for this event. Congratulations to Dawn Tromp and Robyn Johnston on winning Grandma and Great Grandma respectively.

The finals of the Singles Knockout were completed for both Division 1 and Division 2. Congratulations to Lynnette Bates for defeating Rhonda Robertson in Division 1 and Helen Stuart for defeating Sheila Williams in Division 2. Both very well fought matches, both going to the 17th hole. It was good to see so many ladies play this event and I am sure you all enjoyed playing match play for a change.

I would like to make all ladies aware that they are entitled to play in the general competition on Saturdays. There is no restriction on times, but we need at least 10 ladies to make a competition.

Rookie Mondays is also currently being launched in order to encourage new Lady golfers into our club. If you know of any ladies that may be interested, please make them aware of the new program. Brochures with details are available at Club Reception.

Thank you Ladies and good golfing

Rhonda Robertson
